is it possible to do so? i rly wanna hook up my 360 so i can play it on the laptop. but idk if the HDTV tuner provides good enough framerate and/or good responsiveness. Or does the HDMI port support input as well as output?
-
What you are suggesting is not possible.
Also, HDMI is out only. -
-
Its possible, you just need a really good TV tuner to do it.
-
-
You'd think it would be able to be done using the 1394 port using the right software? Not the hacking just the hooking up part.

>>connecting peripheral devices, IEEE 1394 can be used as a convenient network interface to connect computers to each other. For this column, I discuss how to use IEEE 1394 to connect a Sony Digital8 camcorder (discussed in my previous column*Capturing Video from Digital Sources), an external 80 GB hard disk, and two computers with IEEE 1394 ports. Other types of 1394-enabled devices include scanners, DVD recorders, CD-RW drives, digital still cameras, Web cameras, and external tape drives.* << -

I understand what you are saying, I just don't understand why it is such a problem because with the right adaptor and the right software this should be able to be done. There is a market for it and knowing people like to make money this should be a given!

your HDX16t is equipped LVDS Interface LCD..., if u want to keep using the same lcd for both...then it needs a small custom design LVDS switch...which will be controlled by a small microcontroller. just few lines in MicroBasic will do...very simple to program.
now, we have to add a small interface to your xbox-360 which will convert video/HD singnals to LVDS....its just like a lcd monitor kit...but, with video/hd input....the output is LVDS...
remember, this needs some wirings and installation of a LVDS connector on your laptop....
now, lets talk about the cost of this thing:
LVDS Microcontrolled switch= ~$50
Xbox 360 to LVDS (from ebay - need to search)= less then $100...
its not a very difficult job to do...any1 with a little knowledge of digital electronics with programming capabilities can do it....
anyway...just my 2 cents. -
first of all, its not a HDX16t its a DV7T. second, you are certain this will work? how long will it take to do this myself and are there any risks to doing this? besides warranty voiding? and what would be the exact instructions to installing this?

are those what youre talking about? -
Adaptec GameBridge AVC-1400
That other way seemed a bit much? considering this is/was only 20 bucks dealplumber I thought you should of been able to use any input port like a USB, so you must be able to use the 1394 port if USB works, because most devices that use the 1394 can also work with USB. -
the first thing before i give you more details, is that i need your lcd panel model number....
you need to open the lcd of your laptop and give me the model number....it will be at the back of the lcd panel...
then i can get the datasheet of that lcd panel and give you precise details of the interface you need.
if u do it right, then there are no risk of anything....but, still u need electronics knowledge and skills to do this job.
let me know. -

well, i saw a review on the gamebridge youre talking about, but the guy ONLY tried it on Windows XP SP2, which i dont have.
EDIT: i found a .PDF on how to do it by MediaSonic, it says all i have to do is run the installation prog. in "compatability mode for XP SP2", but i think most ppl were smart enough to try that, and my guess is it didnt work, otherwise they'd post their success. -
Youtube setup vid This vid isn't the best quality I've ever seen but it pretty much takes you there as in set up on a Vista rig.
BTW No offence but do you know how to use a search engine? -
Why not just save up and get a dedicated screen for your Xbox360? Or get one of those high-end Dell monitors that have multiple inputs? You can use it as an external monitor AND you can plug in other video devices to it... else you can look at external video input solutions...
It looks like quite a bit of work JUST to get a notebook panel working... and there's really no guarantee that it'll work... great if you have a spare panel lying around... but hacking up a perfectly new notebook is a little excessive and it voids your warranty...
Is it possible to hack the DV7T's LCD panel to have direct A/V input?
