    Is it possible to upgrade the video card on the 8510-p ?

    or are the sockets different on the new HP ATI vid cards . CPU is plenty fast , X-9000 , a new faster vid card would really extend the life of the laptop .

    i was also thinking about that, but since the new dv series have 4650 cards available i asked hp and they told me theyre also gonna be available on certain business notebooks in near future, so i suppose the 8530p is the best candidate for that upgrade and this is my frist choice since im very satisfied with my present 8510p. just hope its gonna be available soon since now is the time to get notebooks with ati's 4-cards, not when the 5-series are already being announced or even later..

    also i think the chipset is different - ich8 - and the newer cards may require ich9 as in the 8530p.

    the x9000 is a custom upgrade, isnt it?

    yes , I put in the x-9000 , an easy job , took 20 minutes
