No, It's not physically possible to change the video cards, most of the video cards are soldered onto the motherboard with no way of taking them off.

The really highend laptops will most likely have interchangeable video cards, but most standard laptops wont.

There aren't any current HP laptops (both personal and business line) that have the ability to swap out video cards.

Then why did HP offer for me to send in my laptop and they were going to swap video cards???? 8400 to 8600...

    Edit:

Just today Case Manager wanted me to send my laptop to "SERVICE" where they will swap my video card...I said no and ended up getting a new replacement promised to me but nonetheless thats what the case manager said.

They just give you a new system. VIDEO CARDS CANNOT BE UPGRADED.

Meaning, they have ones with with 8400 and ones with 8600, you said your sending yours in and they will swap it. Most likely they will send you a brand new laptop with an 8600. or they will actually replace the motherboard in which I highly doubt they will do.

It may be possible with the HDX which has a removable video card board. It looks sort of like MXM but I doubt that it is. See the PDF manual page 79-83.

    Just FYI.

Quite Possibly. I didn't take into account that they upgraded the HDX with the 8800GTS. It seems more logical that the 8800 would be on a card and swappable instead of soldered onto the motherboard.
