Hi all, i'm italian, and i'm looking for information about my HP pavillon, which I bought in 2006 and has never created problems to me.
Suddenly, one month ago, it decided not to power up!
I press the start button, lights turn on (except the "start" one), but the screen is black..the computer doesn't start...
    What happened??
I tried to remove and replace the battery and the RAM, but it doesn't work..
When I remove the RAMT, the motherboard is able to signal its absence, so I think it works...

    Thank you,
    Elisa

Hi, thank you for your answer.
I tried to follow Hp suggestions, but nothing worked..I tried to remove the battery and RAM again, but it's still not working.. The boot doesn't start.
What do you think may be the cause? The model is DV 5047EA.
    Thank you so much,
    Elisa

Will the laptop display the BIOS splashscreen? My initial suspicion is that your graphics adapter has failed...

    Thank u for the answer.
How do I make the BIOS splashscreen display?
Anyway, I don't think it's about the screen..
The same thing happened a year ago, but I removed the battery and when I replaced it, it started. No, nothing seems to work..
It's not booting.. It seems to recognize the HD, but then it doesn't boot. Nothing appears on the screen..

    Thank you!!
    Elisa

It sounds to me like the graphics adapter has failed (not the display); in any case, there isn't much you can do besides send it to HP for repair, assuming its under warranty.

Unfortunately, it's no more under warranty..
I guess that sending it to HP will be very expensive, but I think I will do that.
Anyway, Thank you for your help and support..
