My computer is couple week old HP HDX18t. When the logon for windows Vista ultimate 64 pops up, part of the screen goes black. From the left hand side of my screen black streaks come about half way across the screen. Its almost as if my computer were turned on its left side and someone drew a line graph that was filled in black beneath the line. (best way I can describe it) It only lasts a second, then goes away. I don't seem to have any other graphics problems. Is something wrong? I don't want this thing to get out of warranty and then break!
Thanks!!!

Sounds like your screen is artiifacting. It's probably best to send it back.

It only does it at startup - at the same screen - no other issues?
-
My dv5t does this too at startup. I don't think it is something to really worry a lot about.
-
It doesn't seem to be getting worse, and it has no other symptoms.

The wife's dv5z as well as my HDX16t do the same thing from the bottom of the screen with no other issues. I've own quite a few HP laptops and have never seen this before, but as stated by others, there are no other issues.

Mine ended up having a few other issues, so I'm sending it back either way

My Dell LCD monitor does this too, I was assuming its a driver issue as its a 19inch LCD, an x3100 graphix, and Vista 64, so theres room for error there lol.
Anyone know if this is an issue or not? Like the screen pops up top/side half, the the other side/bottom comes up a sec later? (Also at startup logon screen only). -
Mine just did this for the first time and and bottom half of the screen was black for less than a second then came on. I just performed a windows update so maybe that has something to do with it? Never happened before.
Is my computer dying?
