    Hey everyone
I recently got a HP dv6600 notebook PC but have noticed that at the very back if the lid is closed, the screen at the back seems to be bent upward a little bit toward the middle of the screen. It sounds silly but is there anyone that knows this to simply be a part of the design for this model. It only started to worry me when I noticed that the place where the screen bent up was slightly off the middle of the screen

you know your supposed to buy what you want not what you find its your money just take it back before your warrant ends and pick another machine let them not talk about the fashion talk about what you want

sorry you seem to be missing the point. The fact is that if the whole screen has been bent then there might be damage actually done to the internals of the machine if warping has occurred. That and the way the screen tilts to one side because of this really annoys me. I simply want confirmation and nothing more

I don't have a dv6600, but I had a dv6500t and this apparent defect was not there. It did however have a different screen defect which forced me to demand a replacement.

Anything that seems out of place is probably so. Trust me, it's not "silly".

Considering that was the guy's first post....that's pretty much all that needs to be said. Anyways, my 9700t came perfectly with the LCD. So I'd say get that exchanged ASAP.

I guess its still in warranty but will Hp accept such a small claim as an LCD being slightly bent? Which raises the question, how many HPs come with poor build quality like this? Considering the fact that this is not the first time that i have had a HP replaced. My first one would wobble like crazy on any flat surface

It could be signs of your gpu going bad.

no can't be gpu, unless im reading wrong, i think hes saying that the actual screen - not whats on it, is bent in the back.

which would mean a design flaw, not gpu - thats if its a flaw at all.

and i would try going to circuit city/best buy and checking to see if theirs is "flawed" like yours. it may not be a flaw at all, just have to check another!

It may not be such a big problem but i am just concerned about the build quality of many of these machines. I certainly wont be going back to HP after two faulty systems :(

Well I will say this based on what I have heard, it seems to go both ways no middle ground. Either the HPs are built well (I got lucky and mine is great) or they have issues. I would say something such as the LCD which is vital to a notebook, I'd get it exchanged. If you bought it directly from HP they have the 21 day return. You almost don't even need an excuse but you do have one.

I had small almost unnoticible dints in my screen on the first laptop and they still replaced it. The only thing is that I had to go through a 3 week long process of sending it in, having them say there was nothing wrong, demanding a replacement, etc. (paid a grand for it so I don't care if it's ALMOST unnoticible)

I may be going with a refund however, because I've had my replacement for less than 3 weeks and the fan is dead and the laptop did not shut down when it died so it wound up overheating. I'm guessing it's kind of a crapshoot with HP. Definitely try and get it replaced though.

Another problem i have noticed with mine is that at the right hand side of the LCD there is heaps of light coming through. As if the black case of the LCD is peeling. I am starting to get really annoyed at the horrible Indian customer service too
