I want to purchase the Acer Ferrari 20 Inch LCD to hook up as a DUAL MONITOR with my DV6000t. The GPU I have is a nvidia geforce go 7400. Are these two things compatible?
my dv6000t is:
intel core duo with 2.0GHz T2450
2.0 GB RAM
160MB HD
128MB nvidia geforce go 7400
max resolution 1280x800
The Ferrari LCD that i want to buy has a resolution of 1680x1050.

According to cNet's reviews that i read,
Since this monitor [ferrari LCD] is DVI-capable, you might want a DVI-enabled graphics card in your PC to connect with it -- this will pass the digital video signal directly without converting it to analog, making for better performance.
so i was wondering if the geforce go 7400 is able to handle this 20 inch monitor simutaneously at 1680x1050 while running the dv600t run its 1280x800 at the same time .
1) will graphics be choppy?
2) will the ferrari lcd kick back to 1280x800 resolution and NOT stay in 1680x1050?
3) is the dv600t (with my specs) even compatible with this ferrari LCD?
Any help would be great!!!
thanks guys!!

It'll handle it, but it fails CNet's DVI test. You'll have to convert from VGA to DVI since the 6000t doesn't have an HDMI port.

how do i convert VGA to DVI? in kina confused about what cnet was talking about.... are they talking about additional chords i have to buy?
because i do know that th dv6000t have a vga port...
cant i just connect the vga from my dv6000t to the vga on the ferrari lcd? -
Yeah, that'd probably be the better way to go, that way, all you need is a VGA cable.

Thanks Lithus,.. but im still concerned about a few things:
1) will graphics be choppy on the ferrari lcd?
2) will the ferrari lcd kick back to 1280x800 resolution and NOT stay in 1680x1050?
3) is the dv600t (with my specs) even compatible with this ferrari LCD?
4) can my dv6000t handle its own screen and the ferrari lcd BOTH AT DIFFERENT RESOLUTION AND ON AT THE SAME TIME?
5) will my dv6000t performance slow down significantly while having the ferrari lcd connected? -
1. No, unless you're gaming
2. No
3. Monitor's don't have compatibility. They're PnP.
4. Yes
5. See 1. -
wow. thats great.
so if i buy this ferrari lcd, what needs to be done?
can i just hook up the vga cable and expect it to work right away? -
PnP - Plug and Play

i wouldn't get that LCD though. You are paying for a mediocre LCD with a ferrari badge slapped on it.
Is nVidia GeForce Go 7400 a DVI-enabled graphics card?
