My parents ordered me a DV6000t for Christmas and when it arrived I noticed that I am supposed to get a free copy of Vista Premium, whenever it is realeased. I went to HP's site, was redirected to another, slightly shadier site, and processed my order. Is this legit, or is it some kind of scam? If it's real, when should I expect it to arrive?

Also, is my system fast enough to run Aero glass well? Here are the specs:

    Core Solo T1350
    1gb DDR2
    GF Go 7400
    80gb hard disc

It's real. The site is just run by another company that handles HP's fulfilment orders, and isn't very good.

Both your new system and the mobile in your sig will run Vista's aero interface fine. It isn't nearly as resource-hungry as people make it out to be... it just needs a fair amount of video RAM and Shader Model 2.0.

As for when you'll receive it, I think they said 6-8 weeks after the release of Vista, but I don't remember for sure. It should say something like that in the confirmation e-mail you receive.

    Hope that helps.

Hmm, I just noticed that on the confirmation email they sent me, it says:

"For your order to be fulfilled, you must submit (by mail, facsimile or scan and email) your receipt for the qualifying PC, together with the online confirmation number listed on this page, to the following address or facsimile number:"

Problem is, I ordered the laptop online so I don't have a receipt for anything. Should I scan a copy of the original confirmation email that HP sent me instead?

You can print the receipt online....
    https://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/...e_R329_prodexp%2Fhhoslp/split/orderstatus

Get the print out of the online receipt and email/fax/snailmail it to Moduslink along with a printout of the Moduslink confirmation email.
