There are two options in Display when ordering the DV2000t.

    a) 14.1" WXGA Widescreen (1280x800)

    and

    b) 14.1" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)

Does this mean that a) is the matte and b) is the glossy screen?

Can someone who bought a new DV2000t confirm this? Thanks.

Yes, Yes, Yes and Yes. Although I don't have a DV200t but I have an DV4000 series and trust me, HP names all their glossy screens Brightviews. I have a Brightview myself. I reconmmend you to get Brightview if you want more colour but the negative is that it has lots of reflections under the presence of sunlight. Matte screen is the opposite, colour and brightness is more dim than that of the Brightview and less reflection under the presence of sunlight. I reconmmend you to get Brightview if you plan to watch a lot of mivies and play a lot of games, they're the best uses for Brightview.

But what if i will be using the laptop more for word/excel and surfing? would it be better to get the Matte instead? Im kind of leaning on getting the Matte screen. Would playing in this type of a display really suck in terms of graphics then?

Can someone who got the non-brightview confirm that it is really a matte screen?

If you're mainly using work and sufing the internet. Go for the matte screen. I've used a matte screen all my life and the laptop I'm currently using is the first glossy I've ever used. If you are playing games, you would want a high clarity picture and bright as well but since you're doing everyday applications matte is fine. Finally, I'm 100% sure that option A is matte and option B is glossy. Are you satisfied and clear now?

glossy just gives you much more vivid brighter colors and the matte is just more suttle and not as colorful and vivid but you get better viewing in sunlight and bright rooms :p

does anyone have any picture of both the matte and glossy screens of the DV2000t side by side? Unlike you, i dont have the luxury of going to the retail store to compare as these units arent available here in my country. I will just have my cousin buy this for me and bring it here when my aunt comes by next month.....

a side by side pic would really help

my friend called HP and they said that the NON-BRIGHTVIEW screen is still a glossy screen and not a matte screen.

Is this true or is the hp support guy just doesnt know what he's talking about?

HP has traditionally named their glossy screen as Brightview and the non glossy screens have no brand name. So, the optin without the Brightview will be non glossy. The HP sales doesnt know what he was talking about. try calling up again or use the online chat feature and ask the same question, you might get a different answer.

dang... he called up again and the HP guy said that he didnt know LOL. So i guess HP people arent that knowledgeable on their own products LOL. Well i just hope that the screen that id get is the matte one as i have chosen the NON-brightview screen.

miner - if its non-glossy, then its automatically MATTE right? there isnt anything else but matte and glossy right? thanks

Yeah, I mean why would just provide options for 2 of the same thing. If it is brightview then it is glossy, if it does not say brightview then it should be matte.

well it could also be that Brightview = 2nd generation glossy or HP proprietary glossy and the non-brightview = 1st generation glossy or perhaps the industry standard glossy (if there is one)

    ;)
