I just ordered one and it should be here soon. I'm not using this laptop as a gaming machine because I have Xbox360 already doing the job for me. With that being said, I still don't want a crappy laptop that isn't stable (As far as graphics). I'm going to be using it for basically word processing, viewing movies, music editing, light video editing, and web browsing of course. I just need to know if it's a good machine, if anyone with the laptop care to let me know their experience, that was would be dope. If it's not any good I could just send it back for an exchange or get my money back. I paid around 625.00, that was with my student discount, but it came up to 700.00 before that. If you have any recommendations, I would appreciate that. Peace!

You know what? I knew someone would say that lol. I guess just kind of jump the gun. Hey, but I have 21 days to send it back so I mean that's an option I'm seriously going to consider if the laptop isn't any good.

I have a DV6t and i use to for gaming sometimes, i have the AMD with the dual core turion 64. I'm sure there are many better computers out there but it works great for me, my only complaint is the clingy touchpad. Plus I got a smokin deal on this bad boy so it's hard to not be happy with it

Actually that one comes standard with the intel x4500 integrated graphics which a great integrated gpu. I think the dv6t comes with the hdmi and it should also be good on the power consumption. You should also be able to play all your HD stuff without a sweat and its not too bad for games either as integrated cards go. A plus is they put a dedicated 10 key pad on the keyboard. Probably the only con I see is it uses the new 1366 X 768 resolution or the 16:9 instead of the older 16:10 format. The newer res give you a bit more horizontal resolution.... big freaking deal being that what is really needed is more vertical res for internet web pages and other word/excell documents etc..
The older res of 1280 X 800 was much better IMO and is the same res as a 720P movie. The LCD manufacturers are pushing this new format for economic reasons since they can stamp out more displays from a panel with that resolution. HP and others probably get a cost reduction for these displays so they go along with it. But I would not worry about it that much since most manufacturers are moving towards this new resolution. You probably have to go with a more expensive business machine to avoid the new resolution.

I have the intel core 2 duo version. It's basically the base model with the N card instead of G for the router. I just don't want to be disappointed.

The DV6 now has the following available:

    Expresso Black or Moonlight White
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P7450 (2.13GHz) +$100
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.4 GHz) +$200 Dunno if these 2 were already available

    512MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 4530 +$150
    1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 4650 +$300

So what should I do? Send it back and get something else? Is the one I got not good? I'm not good with the spec aspect of things, that's why I'm asking. So let me know what's up people?

Wowza. Let's just say the 4650 is literally about 15 times better than the X4500. Not an exaggeration!

For your stated needs you should be fine. Those faster gpu's and processors will not even be noticed for what you said you will be using this machine for. The faster gpu's and processor's will however cost you more money and take more power, meaning less battery life. If like you said you won't be gaming, the intel 4500 is a good choice. Your processor will be plenty fast enough as well.

I honestly think that at least the lower ATI card is far better than the integrated solution...you stated you wanted some stable graphics, and that you would be doing some light video editing...at the end is your choice

If you CAN send it back, I would.

The difference between the HD 4530 and the GMA X4500 is night and day. In addition, the HD 4xxx series is based on a faster more efficient architecture than the HD 3xxx series. The low end HD 3xxx series uses an average of 400M transistors in its design whereas the HD 4530 series used only ~250M transistors to achieve the same performance.

As for the 4500 Intel vs the HD 4530, the 4500 Intel manages 900 marks in 3dMark06, the HD 4530 should average around 2600-2700 Marks.
