I will be in the market for laptops in the next few months and Im wondering whether the HP Envy 15 is worth the price. I looks amazing but i keep hearing two things that really bother me, overheating problems and bad battery life. What kind of battery life are you guys who have hp envy's getting? i really like the aluminum design of the envy/macbookpro but really don't want to buy a apple product, but i am concerned about these issues Im hearing.

if you are going to buy a notebook in few months then we will answer these questions then. There may be another refresh by then and all of the answers you will get today will be obsolete.

Right now, it is one of the best values in its class. I consider the primary competitors to be the Dell XPS16, Sony F Series, and Lenovo Thinkpads.

The Mac Book Pro simply doesn't compete since it is using an outdated processor. Battery life won't be a strong point for very many i7 computers since they are closer to a compact workstation rather than an ordinary laptop. For battery life consider an i5 based system.

You can get the HP Envy with an i5. But to answer the OP's question.

I think the general consensus is that it is. For getting a laptop that is only 1 inch thick, full HD display, very powerful graphics card, 5 lbs, and I'm suspecting decent battery life (with the i5, with i7 the battery life is pretty bad), but not the greatest, for about 1400-1700$ with decent options is, for lack of better words, a good deal.

However, if your deciding whether to buy a MBP or an Envy 15, I would first wait for the MBP refresh, and then check out reviews of both and make your decision. I would really hold on the Envy 15 though, there is too much grey area regarding some of the specs (integrated graphics for i5, USB 3.0, multiplier issues regarding the processor, etc.) Check out the Envy 15 owners lounge for all the talk about it.

Hello there, as a (proud) Envy owner, I suggest you to wait to ask.

If you ask me, I recommend this laptop. Very good performance, not to mention this laptop is unique. It has no competitors in size/performance yet.
