Is the ML-40 going to suck up more battery than say the 37 or 34?

I'm looking at a DV5000Z customized and I want to get the ML-40, I mean, it can't use up too much more battery, can it?

No, It won't use more battery. Infact it may use less battery than ML-30. The reason is it uses much less power at lower steppings than other low-end processors.

    For Ex: ML-30 at 1600Mhz uses 32Watts
    ML-37 at 1600Mhz uses 24.5Watts

Yes, I too agree with Vassil.

    But there is caveat.

Ex: ML-37 can run at 1600Mhz at 1.075v, where as ML-30 can run at 1.1v

But ML-37 can only run at 2Ghz rated speed at 1.25v from default 1.45v, where as ML-30 can run at 1.6Ghz rated speed at 1.1v from default 1.45v.

So, we ML-30 is a better undervolter here than ML-37 as it can run at rated speed with much less voltage than ML-37 at rated speed.

ofcourse ML-37 has advantage of running with lower voltage in intermediate stepping.

So, technically ML-30 is better undervolter than ML-37 in this case.

yes on regular usage my notebook does not speed up to 1600mhz except when i'm running games or big movies.

its almost always @800mhz and the lowest i can go is 0.95v on my ML-30 while some ML-37s can get 0.875v-0.90v

on the highend it can do 1.125v and not lower @1600mhz
