I'm sure most of you would agree that the dm4 is a beautiful notebook, almost on par with the Envy series' notebooks in terms of aesthetics.
Can I check with everyone here whether there's a bigger version of the dm4 in terms of screen size?
The only bigger sized notebooks I know of are the dv5 (and above) notebooks and the looks of those don't really appeal to me. I have a older dv6000 pavilion with me now and the plastic looks of it won't do it for me anymore... Are the current line still with the plastic design?
The dm4 has the metallic look which I really fancy. Are there any other HP notebooks, other than the Envy series, which has the metallic design?
The reason I would prefer the dm4-type notebooks is due to the price. It's much cheaper compared to the HP Envy 14...

Unfortunately, not really. DV6 would be your best bet but if I remember correctly, they don't use the same metallic design as the DM4. Personally, I have a DM4 and I don't think it's small at all. I find it just perfect in terms of size and portability. It's the perfect balance!
-
Yes the 14" is the perfect balance. But I am not looking for that balace
In fact, this new notebook that I will buy would not be carried around too much and used more for gaming and stuff
I would therefore prefer something at least 15".
Hmmm I am not too sure. The older dv6000 that I have is of the plastic design. Fingerprints are easily 'registered'. Are the newer series like that too? I saw two editions of the dv6. One has the chiclet keyboard while the other has the normal keyboard with the keypad. I prefer the chiclet keyboard one. Can anyone clarify this for me? -
Never heard of a DV6 with a chiclet keyboard, do not recall one anyway.
The special edition DV6 has an aluminum/metal casing (DV6SE), the standard DV6 has plastic I believe. -
The current one (yes, the same one you had) has a chiclet (island-style) keyboard.
And the Select Editions of the current dv6 and dv7 are exactly what you're asking for. From the fact that you didn't realize that, is it safe to assume that you don't live in the US and can't order CTO as a result? -
Hmmm I just took a look at the pictures in my review and it sure does not look chiclet style, at least not my understanding/definition of chiclet style.
-
Well, what do you think the chiclet style is?
FYI, your Vaio Z is also chiclet. -
Okay I looked at some zoom shots, and I guess maybe I see it. But the spacing is completely different between the Vaio and DV6. The DV6 really did not feel chiclet style, it felt and acted like a normal keyboard. The first thing I noticed when I jumped on the Vaio was the "horrible" keyboard, complaining about it here was what taught me of this "chiclet" keyboard phenomena. So, yes, the DV6 might be chiclet, but not much
. In my opinion

Funny that I thought the dv6 se's keyboard wasn't chiclet-styled when I look at it through images online.
Wasn't until that I saw a video review that I thought otherwise. -

HP Envy 14 is a bigger version of the dm4 with HD5650+HD and optional 1600x900 LCD. Envy 14 looks as big as a 15".
dm4=14.0" LCD
envy 14=14.5" LCD -
Only if buying refurbished.
-
I will go for the HP Envy 14 if I have the cash...
Basically, the E14 is simply too expensive for me. To put it into context, the E14 cost twice as much as the DM4 (base-config) in my country... -
I was at Costco the other day and saw a 17" brother of the DM4 with the same metallic clad body and etchings with bluray! Unfortunately it also has the same weakness.. weak sounding speakers.
Is there a bigger version of the dm4?
