Got this laptop at bestbuys two years ago and one thing i notice is the heat this laptop generates. well after two years of normal use it finally broke. The unit seem to power up but screen wont turn on. My buddie has the same laptop also and it broke the same way too. does anyone else have this issue?

Nvidia graphics/chipset solder issue! For an unknown reason the tx1000/tx2000 series don't seem to qualify for the extended warranty which HP applied to other notebooks like the dv2000/dv6000/dv9000 series which had the same nvidia geforce and nforce hardware. There are ways to restore your notebook but involves a fair amount of work. Search the forums and the web for tx1000 bad solder motherboard repairs.

All Tx1000s are affected by the Nvidia GPU issue. Here's some pretty strong evidence. There's even a sticky over at TabletPCReview forums. However, HP does not admit there is a problem with the Tx1000 series. They will quote you a $400 motherboard repair.
