Nvidia graphics/chipset solder issue! For an unknown reason the tx1000/tx2000 series don't seem to qualify for the extended warranty which HP applied to other notebooks like the dv2000/dv6000/dv9000 series which had the same nvidia geforce and nforce hardware. There are ways to restore your notebook but involves a fair amount of work. Search the forums and the web for tx1000 bad solder motherboard repairs.

All Tx1000s are affected by the Nvidia GPU issue. Here's some pretty strong evidence. There's even a sticky over at TabletPCReview forums. However, HP does not admit there is a problem with the Tx1000 series. They will quote you a $400 motherboard repair.

You could try fixing your current motherboard:

Though it's a shame HP won't stand by their product and fix it for you, even if it is NVIDIA that screwed everyone.
Is there a known issue with tx1308nr?
