I think my system still has the original display driver that came with Win7.... I don't run any games and looking through the version fixes all the fixes appear to be only for games... not the OS... so... if it ain't broke don't fix it right?

Display drivers can contain new features, minor bug fixes, stability improvements etc that may not be included in the change log but may be noticeable upon update.

"If it aint broken dont fix it" doesn't apply to computers. They don't release updates for the sake of releasing updates. They release them to fix something broken or to add new features / overall experience improvement.

^ill humble disagree with most of that statement.

because while its true that manufactures aim to make more stable release, sometimes an update can crash whats usually working right. keep in mind, we are like beta testers to companies when they release updates, they do all sorts of tests on their end to make sure the update is release worthy, but you never really know how an update will react once its on your machine because of the difference hardware and software configurations we all have on our computers

what i would advise is to keep up to date to updates (pun intended) if theres a certain update you want, eye an keep on others that have installed it and if you get mostly to all thumbs up you should be good to go.

i too use the "if it aint broke" mentality and its saved me from regret more times than "oooh shiny update me want it now"

You can always make a restore point, it works pretty well for display driver update.

really depends, amd for example had issues with hdmi before so if you use your computer to watch movies while connected to the tv an update would fix those issues.

then again there are some things like the sound and webcam drivers which I don't bother to update because it works and I don't really need any bug fixes or optimizations for it.

so it's up to you where your graphics drivers falls.
