This is the laptop that I'm considering getting later this week. It looks very nice. Only two questions I have about it.

    1) I'm a college student. Yes, I plan on lugging this around with me (I have a Targus backpack that I already use with my current laptop). As long as I keep my backpack on the light side of things, would this be of bearable weight? The reason I'm considering this instead of the dv6000t is because not only are they the same price at Circuit City (and seem to be the cheapest location), but the dv9000t is (according to reviews) supposed to get *better* battery life.

    2) Is it durable enough to endure the life of a college student?

Thanks for all your help! :)

I went with the similarly configured DV9220US for 1299 at Amazon (after rebate). They also have the 9230 but both models fade in and out of stock so a bit of patience is required. The CC deal is decent but tax is the killer. I totally wanted a 17" but I may have settled for the 6000 series if not for the battery and the 17" does get better battery life. Of course you can add a bigger battery to the 15" but that also adds bulk & weight. As far as lugging it around, depends on the individual I suppose.

Yeah, I know taxes are gonna be a problem, but I've already accounted for those in my budget for this.

To me, this seems like a sweet deal. On HP's website, even with student discounts, the lowest price I can get it for a similar configuration is 1690, not including shipping or taxes.

Thankfully, they have this at a semi-local store. So what I'll probably do is when I get the money for it, I'll run out there and see it for myself and pick it up/examine it just to make sure it's what I want.

If CC is the place, 9230 is the better value, just 20.00 more than 9220. Faster CPU and more HD space

Just an FYI, CC has a new deal for the DV9220US. If you buy this on there web site it will be 1419.99 -$100 Mail in rebate = 1319.99 plus Tax.

BestBuy has the DV9230NR for $1399 yet its the same specs as the DV9220US

    UPDATE!
I am looking into the circuler for CC for this weekend and they have listed the DV9230US for 1299.99 after 150 instant and 50 Mail in rebated. Plus no interest till 7/2008! This is by far the BEST deal I have seen so far.
