General use (internet browsing, office, video and some occasional gaming.

    HP G70120EA

Would it run any of the latest games?

I've got a G70-246US and it's running things fine. CoD, XPlane on the highest framerate possible, etc, etc.

and that has a shared graphics card?? I don't know much about this but that seems surprising as i've heard people say they can't play CoD4 (even on low settings) on the acer laptop i posted which has a dedicated graphics card (512mb).

Very confused on my best buy.

We own three HP notebooks, one is just over two years old (14" XP) the other two are just over a year old (Vista 14 and 15".

The first is a mess: some keypads not working, can't hear sound (so can't use programs like skype). Since the sound card is integrated, we were told it would cost between $500 and 800 to fix.

My husbands laptop is okay, but he doesn't use the keyboard. In fact, he knows little about computing expect to make a call on Skype and click links to surf the net). Some of the keys on my keyboard are getting stuck. I give mine a lot of use but I've been using PCs for years and never had keyboard problems.

Though there is a lot to like about the HP, I doubt I'll ever buy an HP again based on the problems.

    Just my 2 cents.

^^^^ It also depends on how you treat your computers. I have a zd8000 right now owned by a contracter and used for a good 2-3 years. Lots of dust and it was pretty dirty but it works good. I have never had any of my HP's fail exept for when it was my fault. Well and exept for the tx1000 that laptop was a POS i would not reccomend a TX they have poor cooling systems. Other then that out of the over 20 HP laptops ive had and worked on i cant say ive had any major problems

    lol, yeah. :p ;)

Maybe you can get "maximum framerate" (out of your laptop), but your settings have to be pretty low...
You can get a "Maximum Framerate" of COD on a X4500 too, but its only like 23, on 640x400 with everything as low as could be. (Ive done that :p)
Because theres no way possible to play COD on maximum settings on the G70.

...Ive had awesome experience with both my HP's. But its differs with different models, people, and units. ;)
