I'm going to buy a laptop and have had the best luck with hp. I just finished configuring this and was wondering if it was good enough.

I'm assuming you're not a gamer? (X3100)
And unless you do some very CPU-intensive tasks (video or photo editing) the T7700 is overkill.
Otherwise. Good build sir! -
yea im too much in pc games i have a PS3, i gfx card is more then what i needed for. I may end up installing osx on my external hdd which is why the processor is big, plus your pc can never be too fast.

I would definitely get a better battery. I bought a 6cell for my last laptop and it only lasted 2 hours max. Its not that more expensive and its definitely worth it when your out and about. You could go with the 2.2Ghz or the 2.0Ghz and save $200-$300 and put in a faster RPM HDD and get a better battery. If you're not playing games and doing a ton of CPU intensive applications you won't even notice the difference between the 2.4, the 2.2, and the 2.0.

I already have one, my gf father gave said i can have his it's a 12 cell and the same model computer.

How do you define "good enough"?
-
I just wanted to know if the computer would be fast enough for college basic ****, downloading, and other everyday computer usage. And i wanted to know if it would be good enough to run Vista sorry it was a very unclear question.
-
if thats all you want... definitely select a cheaper processor... for everyday use 2.4 Ghz is overkill.

well im going to be minoring in computer programing and will need a serious processor, i already ordered and talked to my professor, i wanted a computer that would be "overkill" so i knew I had the options of doing more.
Is this a good computer??
