I'm looking to purchase a desktop replacement for my parents. They will be using it for basic tasks such as web browsing, email, office, and quickbooks.

I was looking at ordering one of these:

HP Pavilion dv7-6179us Notebook PC, dark umber aluminum | HP® Official Store

But my only concern is the 5400RPM hard drive. Will that slow down the system? They're going to be coming from a 7 year old HP desktop with a P4, 1GB Memory, and a 160GB ATA hard drive. The desktop is SLOOW! lol
I'm just afraid the hard drive will be slow and they'll complain about a new computer being slow. I tried to configure a similar system and it was more than this pre-built, but it did have the 7200RPM 750GB hard drive.

Also, does anyone know where I can find some coupon codes? I saw some for 25% and 30% off, but they expire today. I'm looking to order tomorrow or Tuesday.

    Thanks!

Here's one. Also they might come out with more but not sure when.

•$375 off a customized HP Pavilion dv6t Quad or dv7t Quad laptop after HP Coupon Code NBQD3545 [Exp. 11/06 or 1000 uses]
    * Not combinable with instant rebates.

Do they need the low res screen for eyesight reasons? Get a pre-configured DV7 with the 1920x1080 display unless they need the large text (see if they're fine with your Envy 14 Radiance's DPI)

The DV7's 1600x900 display is a particularly bad quality display. And the low resolution makes it more difficult to fit two windows onscreen at a time. The screen is the biggest limiting factor, even for basic usage.

    Thanks!
When I show them stuff on the Envy, they're always having me make the font larger (i.e. zooming in firefox to like 170%) so they can read the font. They'll never have more than one window up at a time.
    Okay, thanks!
