For about a week now I have been doing lots of reseach on what laptop would fit my needs. So far the dv4t seems to be the best bet for me between versatility and performance. I was planning on building a dv4t on HP's website and it comes out to around $940. I recently found this on the newegg website http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834147767 and this model has 1GB more ram, 70gb bigger hdd, a 56k modem, upgraded AGN network card. The one I am building on HP.com has the Infinity widescreen display which is a $50 value. Now my question, is this a dv4t or what? I could also use the $50 rebate on the one I purchase from hp.com so the prices are relatively the same. Is this a no brainer?

    the newegg model is indeed a dv4t since dv4 + intel processor = dv4t

Seems pretty good, but you probably won't like the infinity display.

People are complaning that it reflects light more than the regular glossy screen.

Basically at this point i am trying to figure out if the infinity display is worth the hit in ram and hdd space.

"Basically at this point i am trying to figure out if the infinity display is worth the hit in ram and hdd space."

My opinion would be no, although the hit in ram is not a big deal because replacing ram is so cheap and easy you should be using aftermarket ram anyway to save some $$$. The loss in hdd space is a bigger deal since it is much harder and more expensive to upgrade.

I went to Best Buy and looked at the infinity display, and it was really unimpressive. I looked at a model without the infinity right next to it, and there really is not much difference in looks at all. I don't think you would really notice if you were not looking for it. Some complain about increased reflections off the infinity display which is actually a reason to specifically not get it. I did not have that problem myself, so I would take a neutral opinion on the infinity display. If it came on it for free, I would get it, but if it cost me anything, then no, I would leave it off.

FYI, I have a dv4t on order from HP due on 08/19 to be finished. I ordered it without the infinity display.
