I recently got my new HP Envy 15 and I've noticed that it has this quite audible whine coming from around the left ctrl button.

If you can't hear it, somebody else uploaded one that sounds exactly the same but from a Spectre.

I already sent my laptop in once for repairs and they replaced a fan but that didn't fix anything. Then when I spoke to somebody at the repair facility, they told me this was normal. It doesn't seem very normal to me as it's a quite loud buzz sound.

    Thoughts?

Thats really not normal at all. If a fan is making a buzzing sound it means its bearing has wore out and it'll fail eventually. Its very strange that a new laptop has a fan issue, they probably put in a defective fan instead while building it

If you're within the 30 day period you can return it and hopefully they'll exchange it with another one or give you a refund

Thanks for the help. I have an HP tech coming over Friday to replace my keyboard and my case manager told me to let him examine the noise to see if he can pinpoint it.

    Thats good and np!

Even the HP tech would tell you that the fan is defective. Hopefully you'll get it replaced
