Its about 2800. I have a 3k to spend. ( I was thinking of going with a desktop and a laptop.) Right now I have dv6000 which I am trying to sell It has served me well so far. So after I saw this hp notebook it looked fantastic. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks. :D :D :D :D :D :D

Might as well jump up to the HDX.

The HDX? It's a 20" beast! At that point, if you call it a 'laptop' either you're fooling yourself or you're jolly and own a pair of big, leafy shoes.

True, but it's still more powerful, more feature rich, with a better LCD (dual lamp), than the setup you have there.

You have to weigh want benefits Montevina (Centrino 2) actually gives you versus the price/performance of the Santa Rosa in the HDX.

A 17" notebook isn't all that portable. 15" is the sweet spot. And since you said you were looking into getting a desktop, The HDX kills 2 birds with one stone.

17" isn't exactly a "laptop" either. More like a "transportable" computer much like the HDx is.

15" and under is a laptop.
