    I just placed an order for HP laptop. It will cost me $700 after $100 rebate from officedepot. I would appreciate if you can comment whether it was good deal for this config or not and whether config would be ok for regular day-to-day work.

    Here is the config:

    - 15.4'' White HP Pavilion dv6700t Special Edition Notebook PC with HP Influx Imprint Finish;
    - Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T5450 (1.67 GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB);
    - 15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800);
    - 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm);
    - Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit);
    - 120GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive;
    - LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer;
    - 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS - For Core 2 Duo Processors;
    - Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection;
    - High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery;
    - HP Imprint (Influx) + Fingerprint Reader +Webcam;
    - System Recovery DVD with Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)

    Thanks in advance

    That looks just fine for regular stuff like word, internet, and what not. Decent looking deal too.

    Note that it has a 6-cell battery, not a 12-cell. If you are planning on getting a 12-cell that'll set you back another $100. If battery life is not an issue to you (ex. always plugged in), then I would say this is a good deal.

    Not necessarily always plugged in, but just be aware that you probably won't be getting more than 3 hrs with a 6 cell.

    Yes, battery is not an issue and I plan to use mainly in my house.

    I am just trying to find if it was good deal and if this config is worth spending $700 bucks.

    Thanks,
    Sam

    That looks like a good deal, especially since HP isn't offering any decent coupon codes at the moment for that model. If all you are planning on doing is using it for work and day to day tasks then that configuration will suit you well.

    I always recommend getting a warranty as well, and always tell people to buy the warranty through HP and never the reseller they purchase the laptop from.
