i was just wondering if you can help me out on finding an HP dv2500t customization notebook with just these little requests.

    - I use Adobe photoshop CS2 ALOT.
    - I type a lot.
    - i might do a few video editing.
    - i handel a lot of picture images and graphics.
    - i listen to music a lot.
    - i like to have a long battery life and have a small notebook as possible (BUT I HATE 12 CELL BATTERIES)
    - i like to have as much mobility as possible and NOT be near an outlet.
    - i like to hook up my laptops to monitor with high resolution such as 1680 x 1050 Pixels
    - at times i would play games such as The Sims and Starcraft (and Starcraft 2 when it comes out)

i did a special configuration for the dv2500t through HP's website.

    My specs are:
Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
    Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7250 (2.00 GHz, 2 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
    14.1" WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
    2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    319MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
HP Imprint (Radiance) + Fingerprint Reader + Webcam + Microphone
HP Broadband Wireless with 802.11a/b/g/n (draft 802.11n) WLAN and Bluetooth
    160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
Standard 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

So far, this is what I got, is it good for what I like to do as stated above?

In the past, the standard HP battery that is shipped with notebooks for me lasted about 45-1 Hour at highest brightness and highest performance. i basically fork everything up.

    1) Is the T7250 above a Santa Rosa platform?
    2) Will i notice any difference between a processor with a T7300 with 4MB L2 Cache versus my T7250 2MB L2 Cache? if so how much of a difference?
    3) Now that i have a core 2 duo (and if it is also a santa rosa platform) will i have a LONGER battery life per charge such as 2 hours of use maybe??

any help would be greatly appreciated before i place my order!!!!! thanks guys!!!

That should be a pretty good spec for your uses. Although you might be better served with upgrading to 4GB RAM and the 64bit OS in the future but to start off 2GB with 32bit Vista should be decent.

As for as the battery life is concerned I wouldn't expect more than 1.5-2hrs with the screen at full brightness and highest performance settings. The 6 cell at best would give around 2.5 to 3hrs with all settings down. get the enhanced 6 cell if you need a bit more juice. It will provide around 16% extra battery life compared to the std 6 cell and it fits flush with the notebook.

The T7250 is a Santa Rosa compatible processor. Dont expect great improvements in terms of battery life, Santa Rosa doesn't last much longer than the older Napa platform. The cache will make a slight difference in terms of CS2 performance but for regular use it really doesn't matter.

Yeah, I'd suggest the 4GB ram with 64 bit windows vista and the extended 6 cell battery. Get a backup 6 cell for extra mobility. Apart from that it should be good.

I have basically the same computer that you customized minus the HD and CPU, and I get about 2.25 hours of battery with full brightness, doing average web browsing (wireless) and other lighter programs. I tinkered with the power settings but I got something that worked. With brightness all the way down and some other settings turned down I can get to 3 hours...

I have the HiCap 6-cell, as well.

Oh, and it works like a DREAM with CS3, so I'd assume it'll work pretty well on CS2.

oh man, DMANbluesfreak thats great!!! howd you get that much of a juice from your battery? are you pumping out 2.25 hrs with the high cap batt?
and is a highcapicity 6 cell batt different from the standard ones?

I really confused with all this 4GB ram and 64bit vista.
can someone inform me about the benefits of 4gb ram and 64bit vista? ive been reading about it and nothing seems to be understandable. can someone put it in lame-man's terms?

and is vista ultimate the only 64bit processor?

Yeah, I get 2.25 hours from the HiCap battery. Its different because it holds 16% more charge (i'm pretty sure its 16), but still doesn't stick out the bottom like the 12-cell (where you could probably get up to 5 hours in the 12 cell).
