So I'm new here and first I would like to say Hi.

So I've had my DV8000 for about 2 years and it's been great with no issues until recently. My LCD took a dump on me and I've been searching for a possible solution but no avail so I wanted some input on what could possibly be bad with my lcd.

It happened roughly 3 days ago my monitor started flickering and now if I don't put pressure on the top right of the screen with my index finger and thumb the image will freeze and then blank out, I took pics with my camera phone to show what's going on. I've hooked it up to a separate monitor and it's working fine (I'm currently typing this on that monitor). I'm going to take it apart (the lcd) tonight but I wanted to know what I should look for, I've never dropped it, anything or anything like that. It's spent most of it's life on my desk. Thanks for all the suggestions guys:

First picture, solid blue background, you can see me lightly pinching the top left of the monitor:

second picture, I've let go and the monitor start to change color and horizontal lines start to appear:

and finally the third picture, the image is frozen, so if I were to put anything on the sceen like the mouse pointer it would've been frozen, it's grey now with the edges of the screen slightly blue:

and yes sadly it's out of warranty, again thanks to any and all help.

Did you buy it with a credit card that has extra warranty protection ? You mentioned "around 2 years". If it's under 2 years, you may be able to go that route.

ok so I found a solution to this problem, I took apart the lcd screen and noticed that at the top left of the screen, where I'm putting pressure with my thumb, the green card in the back (don't know what it's called) came lose and wasn't glued down like the other side. Well I took it and taped it down for a quick fix and it works perfectly now, for people with this issue check it out because my computer works fine now.
