Recently I have noticed an odd issue with my 8510w which is running Windows Vista Business.

When I put the laptop to sleep or hibernation (when it is unplugged and on its battery) and then I wake it up, no audio plays back. This is both from the speakers and the headphone jack.

Even stranger is the fact that the audio kicks back in once I log out from my user account or plug it back into a wall socket. Is this a known issue involving my audio drivers, windows vista, or a hardware issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have played around with sleep mode, hybrid sleep, and hibernation. This problem occurs with all of them.

Look around in the control panel for the SoundMax one. It lets you set a "Power Savings" option to either high, low, or off. I am guess that your machine is on the high level, seeing as the audio chip turns back on once you plug into AC. You can always try re-installing the audio driver too. It would more than likely reset this option.

Oh, and I am using Windows XP on mine so hopefully this same control panel is available under Vista.
