I've been reading posts from folks who bought the HDX9000, but on HP Shopping, as of today the shipping date has been pushed out (yet again) to 9/6/07.
Is HP having trouble getting component(s)? Did the first shipping units show up w/some previously unforseen problem?
For those of you who already have it, what do you think? I actually set aside enough $$ to get one, tho right now it's probably between the HDX and the dv9500t (which HP also says won't ship until 9/5/07).
For me, the prob w/the 9500t is that it doesn't quite have all the options I'd like: WUXGA screen (tho to be fair, the HDX doesn't yet have that either, tho it's supposedly scheduled); the Intel T7700; and gigabit Ethernet (which I think is worth it). OTOH, configured the way I want it (within the available options) it comes out to about $2700, vs. $4000 for an HDX configured the way I want it. I do also like the remote that pops into the cavity to the left of the keyboard on the HDX. The HDX also has an HDMI port.
And while many may consider the HDX oh so over-the-top (which it is), I'm a pretty big guy, and have held off on buying a notebook for many years, because until recently the damn things were just too small for me to type on comfortably. The HDX looks like it's plenty big enough for me.
I don't travel, and the HDX (should I buy one) would simply be moved between 2-3 rooms in my house, connecting to 802.11n Wi-fi.
So while there's a lot of discussion on how gigantic the HDX is, I can remember not so long ago when there were similar discussions about 17" notebooks, when they were first introduced.
Anyway, HDX owners, please weigh in w/your impressions of your new units. And BTW, has anyone heard when the WUXGA screen is supposed to be available for it?
It's here, it's not... What's the deal w/HDX?
