I'm finding that my mouse get really jumpy and unresponsive at times, but other times it works fine.

I had a DV2500z recently as well. It used to get really jumpy whenever I plugged in a external mouse.

I believe both laptops have the ALPS touch pad. When the mouse is acting up, it drives me crazy. Is there any way to fix this? Different driver perhaps or a setting I need to change?

    Thanks!

Try different newer(older) driver. Usually helped.

Do you know where I can find one? I've looked in a lot of places and done multiple google searches. I'm hoping to find someone else with the DV2700 who ran into the same problem and got it fixed.

My dv2700t touch pad used to have short periods of sporadic behavior. I realized that on hot days where my fingers are especially warm/sweaty, placing my left thumb on the gap between the left mouse button and the touch pad while operating the touch pad with my right hand would yield mixed up results: the mouse would hardly move at all or would jump to random places on the screen. The reason my thumb rested here is because it is the most comfortable place that allows quick clicking and typing. Therefore, I just make sure that whatever finger I am using to press the mouse button is far away from the touch pad.

The problem I think is that the touch pad picked up my left thumb resting on the touch pad and my finger navigating around it and the computer couldn't make heads or tails of two fingers on the touch pad. Normally though, if I have a mouse connected to the laptop, I just push that little button above the touch pad that turns off the touch pad.

Otherwise, the touch pad works fine just be aware of where your fingers are resting in relation to the touch pad. This may be totally unrelated to your problem but I hope it helps.
