Well, that hard drive is only 4200 rpm, that ain't too great for gaming.
Also, the Pentium 4 processor isn't that great of a processor. Also, the video card is integrated. You should've gotten this model with the AMD Athlon 64 processor with a dedicated GPU.

Hate to break it to ya, but this won't be very good for gaming.

but the video card is still good though for games? atm im using a desktop 2.6GGhz with an intel 64mb and 256 ram

it runs all games even powerful ones, obviously not perfectly

the laptop specs beat it in every way[ :D]

so its bound to run them right [8)]

rahulnirmal's right, you could have bought the much better AMD version for even less money. The P4 you have gets abysmal battery life, maybe half what the Athlon 64 gets, and it's less powerful. They have no reason to exist other than to make Intel happy.

if you are happy with your purchase , why ask any opinion,
if it ain't good for gaming is the opinion you get.
Either return it or be happy with it [ :D][ :D][ :D]

Your laptop is more powerful than your desktop, but it still won't run games that well, maybe just a bit better than your desktop. I say you should return it and get that model with the AMD processor. The processor by AMD gives you better performance and better battery life and less heat. The AMD model also comes with a better dedicated video card that will run your games decently.

But if you are happy with your computer right now, then keep it and be happy with it, but I do really think you'll be dissapointed if you want to run the newer games on it.

for $1125 U.S. dollars it isn't bad at all. Don't listen to all these Intel haters! Load your games...play them and you decide! The Intel AMD fight is always going to be around! Put it to the test and post back...I hope everything goes great! The Athlon 64 has an advantage with mainstream office and Internet applications, and 3D games. Meanwhile, the Pentium 4 can always score with optimised software -- particularly 3D and video rendering. The multitasking tests also show an advantage for Intel's Pentium 4. Don't even sweat it...thier is 64bit, "NOTHING" on the market! When it does hit, you will have years until the entire public jumps on board and makes 32 bit applications obsolete...when that does happen, the current cpu's in the systems we use today....well, they will be all but obsolete too....think back 3 years!

Your graphics is shared and thats the biggest problem for games. If your going to play any kind of new 3D games like (doom, far cry, UT2004, HL2) then this computer will not be able to even run them I would think. Its not a bad system but the video card is not designed for new games at all. Like the others said for that system the AMD 64 is the better cpu but its not going to make much difference either way for gaming. You need a notebook with a dedicated video card. Radeon 9600 or newer.

Actually, Athlon 64's dominate Intel P4's in gaming benchmarks. In this case, the Athlon 64 version of the zv5000 series also has a dedicated memory GPU that's superior to the shared-memory GPU of the Intel P4 version. It's still weak by GPU standards though, so if you really want a gaming machine, I'd wait a few weeks and see what the new zv6000 series has, but there are some great deals to be had on zv5000's right now, so... up to you.

Microsoft has committed to shipping 64-bit WinXP in April. Release-to-manufacturing should be late March, which means it could show up on new PCs before the end of March (hopefully that includes the zv6000). Games will be among the first apps to port to 64-bits. You get a significant performance boost by compiling in 64-bit mode (there are twice as many registers available, x86 is a register-starved architecture). Far Cry and UT2004 are a given (I've been playing 64-bit UT2004 under Linux for quite some time).
