As the title says, I just picked up my HP DV6772NR from OfficeMax

On the surface it looks like a great deal considering it has:
    AMD Turion (Gold) 64 X2 Dual-Core TL-64 (2.2 GHz)
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS - upgrade from the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M
    HD-DVD

But I've read a few reviews of the DV6000 series laptops with the Wi-Fi untimely demises and the root cause being the AMD/Broadcom problem...

It's not too late to return it for me, Should I?
Is this laptop plagued with this problem?
Are there other problems I should be concerned with?

    Thanks!

EDIT: I just looked at this HP Warranty Extension for Wi-Fi problem and the DV67XX is not listed. Does this mean my laptop is not affected?

    Thanks again!!!

The dv6500 models and above are less affected from what i hear. The dv6000 had so many motherboard faults.

What are the rest of the specs? You could call hp and see if you can add the warranty to that laptop. Would it be just as reasonable to custom build a pc?

Wow, not happy to see that link. I have the AMD/Broadcom pairing on my dv6253cl (Costco version of dv6000z) and yes it's covered. On the other hand, it's nearly a year old and has not given me any problems at all; in fact I've been very happy with it. If it does crap out, I'll take them up on the extended warranty but will never buy another HP computer again. Given my past experiences with Dell, that leaves me with either Lenovo or Sony for the next one.

So you are planning on buying the extended warranty? You must do it before the year is up and before there are any issues with it. Not that I know how they would know if there are any. I guess that really just matters for the ADP.
