My first time purchasing a laptop. I've had HP pcs for years with no real issues and if there are, I usually take em apart and fix them myself, however, a laptop for me is a whole new ballgame. Is it sensible to get an extended warranty? I never get em on pcs but I expect laptops might be a bit more iffy.
Only thing is, bought from Best Buy and the warranties are sky high for accidental and pretty high for regular contract as well. An example is $279.99 for accidental protection 3 year and like $150 for just regular 3 year extended warranty. Meanwhile I spent 699 on the laptop. So what should I do here, for those with more experience with these things?

For a 700 dollar laptop, there's no point.

im in the same boat as you. $259.99 just seems crazy for something so cheap. My health insurents is cheaper. well my laptop cost $1,000, you think i should, there prices are the same for the warranty as the OP.

Also noticed this particular model number is hard to find in any google searches. But the specs seem to be the same as dv6748us, which is more popular in searching, etc. What could be the difference?

Best Buy models are labeled nr.

Anymore input on the reliability of these? Thanks!

i got the 3 year adp coverage from hp , but i'm clumsy ! i fell on my last laptop in year 2 1/2 and got an upgraded replacement as they no longer had my exact model . in my case it was worth the extra money , but the comp was $1300.00 to start and warranty $240.00 .

I just checked Best Buy's website and it seems this model is now at it's original price of $850. Think a warranty just might be worth it then hmmm
Just bought DV6736nr Laptop, extended warranty or not?
