As per the title, I just bought a brand new out of the box HP Elitebook 8530p.
I bought it in the states and it's the model with the P8600. I followed the tips and tricks for cross shipping laptops with the USA (since I am located in Canada). The best price in Canada for this laptop is 1600 CAD excluding taxes. With the UPS Express Saver, the item and the taxes I will pay for it will total around 1050 CAD.
The laptop is brand new with the orignal box (not sealed) and comes with all the original accessories.
I have some questions to you laptop gurus.
Will the warrenty be honored? It's suposed to be 3 years so I don't want to miss that.
What about squaretrade?
Was it a good deal considering I am in Canada?
Thanks.

i think for the warranty you need proof of purchase. ebay doesnt count. buuuuut saying that, you might just be able to register it to you on the first boot. supposing its not been booted before.

Bump ... I'm curious about the warranty too... any update, vols_xx?

With HP Business notebooks, no registration is needed. The warranty starts from the day the notebook is delivered to the first buyer, in this case the person who sold it to you on eBay. Unless a CarePak is purchased, the warranty is a standard 3 year global next business day coverage. Proof of purchase is only required when a replacement is issued under warranty, but normal warranty claims can be made without this, If purchasing a used notebook from eBay, always ensure the seller provides a copy of the original invoice for this purpose.
