Hi all,
I just bought a HP Pavillion dv2000t, and was hoping to get some opinions from others. I think I got everything I needed in a notebook and most of what I want. Basically, I'm a student who needs a new notebook for school/play, mostly internet surfing, research, typing papers, some gaming, etc. I wanted a machine that looked good, had good specs, and was portable -- so the 2000t seemed like a good match. Anyway, here's the specs:
Windows XP Media Center
Inter Core 2 Duo 7200 (2.0 Ghz)
14.1" WXGA BrightView screen
128MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7200
Webcam
2.0 GB DDR2 SDRAM
120 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
8x DVD+/-R/RW Double Layer
Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG Network w/ bluetooth
6 Cell Lithium Ion battery
Also, I got the air/auto adapter, bluetooth mouse, express card remote, and targus backpack.
I guess my main questions for those who have or have used a 2000t are, how does this system compare to other systems of this size/weight? Is the brightview screen a better screen than the matte finish? Any help/reassurance would be appreciated.
Also, I'll try writing a review as soon as I get the system, then I'll see how well I can do getting XP x64 and Vista installed on the machine, and try to write a guide with all the needed drivers for both.

Thats a nice configuration! Welcome aboard

I agree with The graduate... nice config! Glossy screens are good for watching movies and playing games but can be annoying due to the reflections... it really depends on the user, can't say its better than the other. Have fun! Will watch out for your review.

I would of upgraded to 2GB RAM and the 120GB hard drive on your own and not purchased it through HP.

Question: Are both the Brightview and the non-brightview being offered for dv2000t glossy? or is the non-brightview matte?

Nice, i kinda regret not waiting for a little bit longer for my laptop to get a core 2 duo processor. This notebook is definately great for a college student, I've picked it up and carried it around my house and it's very very lightweight. The sleek design and look is definately an eye-catch also, very trendy for today imo. Great choice!

entp24 I'lll be waiting for your opinion on the matte screen don't forget to post!

Thanks for the opinions everyone.
Burningrave101 -- I would have upgraded those myself also, but I wanted the year of 0% interest financing. Also, with the APP discount, they didn't seem TOO outrageous.
Expected build date: 9/8 -- regular shipping was free, so I went with that. How long does it really seem to take to get your notebook from HP after the build date? -
Just bought a Merom 2000t -- opinions???
