My MBP has been given me problems so I ditched mac and bought a new HP laptop! Its currently being built so I don't have it yet, but I'm really excited! My customization:

    • steel gray
    • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    • 2nd generation Intel(R) Dual Core(TM) i5-2410M (2.3 GHz, 3MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz
    • Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 [HDMI, VGA]
    • 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 640GB 7200RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    • 6-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery
    • 15.6" diagonal Full HD HP Anti-glare LED Display (1920 x 1080)
    • Blu-ray player & SuperMulti DVD burner

I almost went with the quad edition but I really don't need the i7 or fancy graphics card since I don't play games or anything so I decided to save a couple hundred dollars and go with the select edition. I wasn't going to go up to 8GB of memory but I had this coupon and had to have at least $1,000 to save $150 so by spending an extra $60 I got $150 off! Funny how that works sometimes. I'm hoping this will work great!

Congrats, that will be a great system for you! I like where we're heading in technology. 1080p matte screen, blu-ray player, powerful CPU, high capacity hard drive, and long battery life for under $1000.

i wish i made mine steel grey

when i get the dark umber exchange i didn't mind it at all and thought looked nicer if anything but now that i've had it for a while, i'm tired of constantly cleaning off my finger prints :(

Ya! It's amazing to me. And whats crazy is I was looking at staying with mac but would have had to spend twice as much for the same configuration! Even Sony was quite a bit more (my last laptop before the MBP was a sony). So I spent $870 or so on this, including a recovery DVD and microsoft office AND I got 50% off a 3 year warranty, everything was right around $1,000. Could not be happier.

I dunno. My umber model always looks nice. It's the black trackpad that always seems to get all "smudge-y" for me. And that is on both models.
