Im so excited I jsut bought myself my first laptop for school. Does anyone here own one, and could possibly let me know how well it has worked out for you? I nkow the geforce 6150 isn't top notch but it will fun vista and thats all I want, not really a big gaming laptop. I got the AMD turion x2 64 tl-50, 1gb 533mhz ddr ram, 14.1 brightview screen, dvd burner, the cool imprint finish on hte top. I got it brand new for 699$ off ebay!. Trusted seller who only sells laptops and has two negative feedback out of 300+ for two ipods. I cant wait to get it in!

Ah, sorry. Wish I got the core2 duo, but being a poor college student doesnt help. AS far as video cards go I'm stuck with what I have right? the onboard 6150? or can I upgrade like desktops? I will be going to 2gb of ram when vista before I get me retail version of vista.

RAM is easily upgradeable, but GPUs are not. Even if they were, you can't go from integrated to dedicated since they require slightly different motherboards.

If only life were easier... :(

You are stuck with the GPU. Notebook GPU's arent upgradable. The only things you can upgrade are the processor, RAM, optical drive, bluetooth & HDD. Its a pity that HP offers the Go 7200(among the 14" models) option only with the dv2000t. Vista runs pretty well with 1GB RAM, thats what I have now and Vista RC2 runs smoothly. With 2GB RAM you should have a good Vista experience.

I havent tried 64bit Vista after Beta 2. So dont really have an idea about the drivers, but hopefully by jan there should be drivers for most of the critical components.

For the Go6150 itself, there is no any problem to handle 3D desktop. I didn't try on Vista, but Linux 3D Beryl/AIGLX works great without any problem. Every transition happened instantly. If Vista give you a low score about GPU, that's their driver problem.

The sound, I should say it is so great. I tried PureVideo driver and play HD DVD clip(Lease_Likely_1080i) in PowerDVD 7. The sound is SO LOUD even I only use <35% of the master volume. I don't know which part does the most job, but this combination makes you feel that you are not working on a Laptop at all.
