I just bought a dv9500t and I was wondering if anyone else has bought this model. Because the first thing i noticed is that it has the "dv9000" imprint at the top right of the screen. Does any one else have this? It is infact a 9500 according to the system stats. Also..

I got the message on Hp total Care advisor to update the "Hp easy setup update required". I did so following the directions but the message wont go away even after rebooting. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I am running vista 32-bit btw.

yeah, i dunno wtf either. I've got a dv6500t, but up in the corner it says HP Pavilion dv6000, but i know that it is a dv6500t so whatever. Just wierd hp **** i guess. I also had a sticker that said centrino duo, not core 2 duo, but my diagnostic programs show that it's a core 2 duo

It has a "dv9000" because that is the computer series, the model is DV9500.

Go into add/remove programs and remove the HP total care advisor, I think that's the best solution to your problem!

Re: one and the same (9500T) regardless that HP DV900 is clearly stamped on the screen part of the laptop. Does this mean the screen is a "universal" piece and doesn't mean anything in regards to resolution and upgrades as ordered for lastest models, in this case the 9500T (CTO)? Seems strange? How would a novice really know for sure? By the way, although HP customer service (via telephone) in Rochester, N.Y. states this same peculiarity the customer service rep in India (via chat line) finally got back to me and states that I received the WRONG model and to get back in touch with them. Which is it? Who is right and who should be trusted at HP, USA or India? this why I am in a quandary. By the way, thanks to everyone who is trying to help me so far. Still seeking further input, especially from the experts who have first hand knowledge but, any help would be a plus.

RL653AV= dv9500t CTO. Plug in the P/N when searching on the HP site.

Then why does the HP service rep (via chat line) in India say I was sent the WRONG model and yet the HP service rep in Rochester, N.Y. is saying the same thing you are saying? Is the screen then a "universal" part of the system which performs the same regardless of the model? I paid for a CTO version of the DV9500 which I thought included an upgraded screen. You can see why I am confused as a new member of the laptop community when people from the same company say different things. How can I know what is true and correct? Thanks for your help so far.

like everyone said. its the series model. just like Sony Vaio PCG-FXA36. They had a couple of configurations but use the same FXA series name. nothing to be concerned about

HP support is screwed up. Talk to two different people, get two different answers.

Anyway, what "upgraded" screen did you order? These were your three choices:

And are you currently running at that resolution, and/or able to switch to 1680x1050? If so, you have the upgraded screen. :)

Yea...the indian support crew tries to be helpful, but the language/understanding barrier is almost too much to bear sometimes. Stick with an American help person, and they usually clear things up in under 10 min or so.
