    Hey,

I just got this new laptop, Envy 15, and the screen does not seem to work for some reason?

I turned the computer on for the first time, there was no battery and then I plugged in the charger and then it turned on, but the screen would not turn on. I can see the keyboard backlight and computer being on, but the screen does not turn on.

Can someone tell me what is wrong?

    Thanks.

It is normal you can not power on first time without adapter, that is for battery capacity reserve purpose during shippment
But strange your monitor not light when power on, suggest you power off and power on again with adapter, if still fail suggest exchagne for another one.

Suggest disassemble the unit, and re-connect VGA cable. Better have guy who skilled at dsassemble.

Going to send the laptop back for a Refund. As I am in Canada, I wasted too much money already on this and now have to send the laptop back to USA to which I will have to pay on my own.....

Any other tips on how the screen might work is appreciated.

Try hitting the key combo that changes screen output. On older HP notebooks it was FN+F4. You should see what looks like a monitor on the top row of function keys. Tap that a few times hitting enter each time.

It would help if you mentioned if anything shows on the screen at all during post and Windows boot.

This sounds like about the 3rd new Envy 15 that's being reported to arrive with the screen DOA.

Nothing shows up on the screen. It is completely blank, not even some light or something.

I tried changing output, nothing happens.

Other people also had same problem? Did they return for exchange or did they solve on their own?

I think the first guy returned his for refund (his story is somewhere in that 350+ page thread). I don't know what the others have done but suspect they have to at least return for repair/exchange.

If the screen is blank even during post, then it's a hardware issue.
