I want to keep vista but I dont know what to delete to make my notebook faster

i would get a clean install, your computer will greatly improve in speed. they put an enormous amount of crap on their computers, all manufacturers do
-
format and reinstall, this is the best way
-
how do I do a clean install. I dont have a vista disk
-
there is a thread that have a guide on how to do it.
-
Here's that thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=120228 -
LOL, im not going through all that. I'm looking for something less risky that doesnt involve deleting everything. Just tell me what to delete. I think ive gotten most deleted already.
-
Well, that guide wouldn't work with your DV6500T anyways. Actually, it's pretty simple to follow, so there's nothing to fear.
There was a thread I started about the bloatware pre-installed, but I don't know where it went. It might be on the 2nd or 3rd page of this forum. -
for some reason I cant get my processes below 50. My old computer had only 25 running. Is that hps fault or vistas?
-
Both, to be precise. If you click 'Show processes from all users' and sort by user name you can see the split. Its quite easy based on the process name to see which services / apps can be disabled on startup.
If you have doubt about any of them post the Image name/ description here and someone would be able to tell you if its safe to kill it. -
ive deleted all the user process except about 5 that i need and its at 50. Im not suppost to mess with the local system and network right?
-
how do I tell it to not ask my permission when opening a program?
-
google "disabling uac". though i do not recommend it as it poses a security risk.
-
Burn some recovery disks, and format your HD, so even if you screw up you'll be A-OK in a short 2 hours of recovery time.

I just bought my HP 6500 special edition.. it looked fine.. and worked fine. Until..
It blue screened on me completely randomly. I was taken aback. I restarted it and it worked fine I watched a movie just see how it goes, worked fine. Then I realized that the left headphone jack doesn't seem to work, I was trying to check the sound settings when it blue screened on me again. Obviously the error checker or whatever they have didnt find any solutions for my problems.
what should i do guys should i return it?
first day
- blue screened on me twice
- slightly loose battery (12 cell)
- left sound jack doesn't work

right click on my computer -properties-advanced-performance:settings
and then turn off the unneccessary choices. by default they are all on. -
you don't say how much RAM you have. Vista needs 2Gb to run well.
Just got a dv6500, how do I make it run faster while keeping vista?
