My laptop just got its screen replaced due to dust and I sent in my DV5T to them to fix it. They told me it was going to be a brand new screen. They fix it and send it back to me. I open the box and notice that my keyboard is improperly installed and later that hour, I noticed that I got a dead pixel.

So I call my HP case manager and tell him what is going on and it is B.S that HP won't fix my laptops screen. They are going to fix the keyboard but as for the screen he said that there is a formula that they follow to determine if they can fix my screen. I am pissed because I know that HP ain't going to give me any break because of the fomula but it is the fact that once I open my laptop I notice that I have a dead pixel. Can they really do that? Like fix my laptop and claim that it is a new screen but has a dead pixel?

I need to know what else I can do if they can't fix my laptop because the pixel is so obvious since I have the 1680x1050 res. I even tried asking him where do I go about if they claim that they can not fix it and he said that he did everything he can. But who can I speak with if they can't fix my problem because my case manager is a complete loser.

    Tech support annoys me.

Is it still under warranty, though? Or maybe a repair warranty? I'd think if you have one of those you can use that to get another new screen/get it fixed.

And if the people on the telephone are ridiculous? Maybe you can get up to some advisers. Or maybe try email.

If you didnt have a dead pixel before then yes they probably did put a new screen on it.

You gotta understand that not all LCD panels will be perfect. We are talking about over 5 million flawless transistors here.

If HP or any other company had to replace every case of a single dead pixel then they would be broke. Industry standard for screen replacement is usually 3 dead pixels. Im sure HP has their own reasonable policy for dead or stuck pixels/sub pixels.

Sad to hear but thats just the way it is. The keyboard on the other hand is their fault though.

I bought a refurbished HDTV once and it had a dead pixel. I was able to rub it out with my finger... have you tried that?

Also you may be able to re-seat the keyboard yourself. I have a feeling HP is just going to give you more trouble with this case :(
