I just turned this machine on and started playing around with it before I do a fresh Windows Vista install. It's not bad, however I thought it could've been better. Screen felt dirty when I received it. Crevices have small amounts of glue goo or dirt. There are 2 small scratches.

    Some questions:

The top right of the LCD screen has the sticker that says HP Pavilion dv2000. Should it say dv2700t?

Also, my down arrow key is loud. Anyone else have this problem? It's the loudest key of them all. If I repeatedly push it, you'll think this HP was equipped with a machine gun.

I installed 4 gigs of ram, geil 2x2gb that have a heatsink on them. Is it a problem if the heatsinks of both ram are touching? Above all, they are seated properly.

Thanks. I'm contemplating wheter to keep this laptop or not. I had 3 Dell laptops before this and a few of their computers/LCD and all were great in build quality compared to this.

Oh there was one problem with the Dell with the ram and keyboard but they sent them out immediately for me to fix myself which I thought was excellent in their service. Would HP send me a keyboard and allow me to install it myself?

Fix the keyboard issue by putting a felt pad underneath that section. Thanks for the link.

Can someone answer this question though:
The top right of the LCD screen has the sticker that says HP Pavilion dv2000. Should it say dv2700t?

I also have a problem with the panel side of the keyboard directly above the dvdrw drive. If i push the panel a little pressure, it clicks. It seems as if the silver portion is not connected securely with the black plastic underneath it. Is this normal? Anyone else have this?

no problems w/ my dv2700t. the sticker on top will say dv2000 but check the bottom of the notebook. that should say dv2700. i'm also coming from a dell notebook and have no complaints w/ either brand (except a throttling issue w/ the dell, but was fixed under warranty). each brand will all have there share of problems...

the top right sticker just states the basic number model..for example a dv6***t the sticker would just read HP Pavilion dv6000.. gsxr310 is right and your actual model number will be underneath the laptop..

The top right says dv2000 because HP overproduced the cases for their original dv2000 (and dv6000 and dv9000) model. It's still a dv2700t.
