How's it going.
I bought an HP DV2225nr (dv2000) today at Best Buy. It has the new Vista operating system.
Specs:
Windows Vista Build 6000
AMD Turion 64 x2 1.8 ghz
1024 DDR2 RAM
120 Gig HDD
14.1 WXGA HDef Brightview Widescreen
Nvidia Go 6150 Graphics
Lightscribe Super Multi 8x DVD+/-RW Dual layer
802.11 b/g WLAN
5 in 1 Media Reader
Webcam built in
Up to now it is an awesome notebook. I got rid of all the extra crap it comes with that is useless and installed some of my programs. It is running great...no problems at all. Well there was one....after the wireless assistant connected to my wireless network at home for the first time......the internet sites were loading really really slow. But i solved the problem by running the wirless repair and that did it.
I would recommend this notebook to anyone....
So far so good...I freaking love it. Fully loaded and at an awesome price....$749.99.

Congratulations on the notebook, and that is a fantastic deal. I'm assuming you are coming from Windows XP; how's Vista so far?
I'll put this thread in the HP/Compaq forum, I think it would be more helpful there. -
Congrats on the purchase. You're going to be happy with your laptop.
-
vista rules.
-
nice laptop specs, and great deal!
not to change the subject, but did hp fan really have to post that pointless post? "vista rules. derrrrrr" -
How's Vista treating you? Any bugs so far? Does your QuickPlay button work with it?
-
up to now...no problems. the quickplay buttons are working properly. So far so good....I will post if any problems arise.
-
Congratulations on the purchase, welcome to the HP/Compaq crew. -
Out of interest, is it the 32-bit or 64-bit version of vista you're getting?
Since it's installed on a 64-bit machine! Are HP still ripping people off? -
yeah i think they ship you the 32 bit
-
I haven't seen any manufacturer's shipping notebooks with Vista 64-bit. HP is no exception, unfortunately.

My DV2000 has practically the same specs as yours so it's good to hear everything works well.
What about Aero? -
My dv2000t with an Intel GMA 950 can run Aero, so... -
proud owner of the same one. yeah everything seems to work pretty good on this laptop. i took out most of the software that came with it also. I only have one question. is there anyway to make a clean install of windows vista from the recovery cds? or does the serial number under the laptop work for a retail version of windows vista home premium? although i think i took out all the unneccessary software that came with it, i would feel much better with a clean install and then find all the drivers for it after.
**forgot to mention....it runs a little hot in my lap especially when watching video playback or something....same for you? and if you have any suggestions to make it cooler it would appreciated. I wanted to run notebook hardware control but whoa! BSOD like crazy. -
You got an extremely good deal!
-
do you have any problems with your hard drive getting hot?
Just got my new HP......
