    hey Everyone,
I just got my new HP dv4t in the mail from costco. I was wondering are there anyways to do a clean install and get all the bloatware/junkware out of the system? Thanks!
Btw it didn't come with a CD for vista or any OS.

Make sure you burn the recovery disks first, before you do anything else.

I think in order to clean install Vista, you need a disc. If you've got a friend or colleague who might have one, you can borrow theirs, or if you don't mind waiting you can buy one online. The stickied thread at the top of this board goes through what exactly you'll need. (The recovery disks you can order from HP are the same as the ones you'll burn for yourself, and come with bloatware.)

Alternately, I got some good tips over here for clean installing Windows 7 RC, but it's well advised to have good backups and be very aware of any risks if you go that route.

In the meantime, if you can't do a clean install immediately, I suggest downloading Revo Unistaller (it's free) and use it to purge all the crapware that they include on new HPs! HP and Toshiba are the worst offenders when it comes to bloatware/crapware pre-installed.
