Hello, I finally got my dv5t and have a few questions. I did a clean install. Where can I download the latest version of Quickplay?

Actually, its not available on the HP site. You have to have kept'd your SWSETUP folder to have the quick play software.

I think the previous poster was talking about Quick Launch which are for those cool looking buttons across the top. Two different things

Okay, I've find something called quickplay web update (version 3.2) which actually installed the whole thing on hp, then after installing that, the program itself found and downloaded the newest version 3.7)

    Hey Darth Bane,

I have ordered this laptop on october 13 and its estimated to be built by October 21. Does the estimated build time always meet the specified date?
    What happened in your's case?

iprashant, it varies, but people experience (including me) that it usually arrives on the estimated SHIP date. I see they are offering 2day shipping for free now. I'm not sure if that would make any difference lol, considering with normal shipping, after they shipped it, it usually arrived within 2 days for the person.

So, according to most people's shipping, it would be shipped a couple (0-3) days before the estimated ship date, then it usually arrives within 2 days of shipping. I had ordered 2 before, one I got on the estimated ship date, 2nd one my estimated ship date was a friday. It didn't ship until monday cause of business days. I still arrived it within 2 days of the actual shipping though.

    Thanks Chango99

My estimated build date is October 21 and i have taken 2 business days shipping option. So it has to arrive to me by October 23-24. My problem is i have to get is by October 26 anyhow as i have to send this laptop outside US. I have got some cushion but still its a tight schedule. Hope it will make it.

My was shipped on Oct. 9 from China and I received it on Oct 13 (Ohio).

My system cost 977 (after taxes) thanks to the $400 coupon that pretty much ended right after I ordered mine :) I find it funny that the cheapest apple mac book costs more then this

CPU: P8600 2.4 GHZ (picked it because of lower watts the T series)
RAM: 2 GB (Upgraded to 4 GB for $60 bucks at newegg)
    HD: 250GB 5400rpm (Upgraded to 320GB 7200rpm Seagate at newegg for $109)
Video: 9200 GS (They had it for 50% off, plus I am an rts gamer who doesn't mind playing at low settings, and also for good battery life)
12 cell battery :) and lightscribe Blu-ray drive

So even with upgrades, it came around to $1146, still very cheap. It makes any of dell's laptops look awfully overpriced.

I absolutely love it. I only have ONE gripe though. I don't like how the hard drive is installed. It's not even physical tied to the notebook and is right next to the battery. I prefer dell's way of being installed via screws.

Which brings me to my next question, is the HP software "ProtectSmart HardDrive" effective? It's supposed to "park" the hard drive when the laptop falls or gets bumps. If it is not effective, i prefer to just uninstall it and get rid of the 2 services it's running.

^ That's 2 business days, so it's right. Just in case someone was doubting the shipping.

    Hey Darth Bane

I have also configured for 12 cell battery. How good is the battery life?
