So I just bought and installed the intel 510 sata3 SSD 120gb harddrive.

This was my first SSD and I didnt know they come in different sizes!! Apparently the stock 1TB Toshiba harddisk is 12.5mm and the intel ssd is 7mm so as you can imainge it doesnt fit very nicely. The side mounting screws on the intel ssd also seem to be smaller than that of the stock HDD. With absolutely no idea where to get the right screws I just tucked some scrap papers under the SSD to fill the space so that it wont jiggle.

Fortunately enough, the SSD works just fine. I did a clean install using the HP recovery discs and all went very smoothly. No recovery partition was created, just the C drive and thats what i want because you know, its only 120gb. I was left with 87gb free space after the clean install which to me its acceptable as i dont have alot of media. I do have a big collection of games so i guess ill have to better manage them.

Performance wise, WEI gives a 7.8. While im very satisfied with the speed, its not quite as fast as whats been advertised or shown in some videos on youtube e.g. under 20s. It takes 25 sec for windows to start up and thats right after a clean install with zero added software. So you can expect yours to be the same.

Overall I am very happy with it. Especially after seeing how many people are having problems with their SSD installation, some wont work with firmware updates, getting stutter / blue screen of death, or not 4k aligned (whatever that means lol). Installation was very straight forward, apart from you need to buy the right screws but as long as its working fine im happy.

Did yours come with a 1TB stock Toshiba HDD? Im guessing maybe because mine's a Hong Kong version. Ill go try to find the correct screws sometime tmr.

And thanks for the tips. Ill read through the instructions, although I have no idea what all those features are and what they do lol
