The savings was about $150 when I factored in the taxes. I actually thought it might be more of a savings, but $150 is better than nothing. Here is the breakdown and cost comparison:

Congratulations, that's an awesome system.

Very nice system, and congrats on the purchase!

I just got the shipping notification email. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to get here from Shanghai!
-
cool. why isn't Ultimate offered on the DV6000? I'm jelouse.

It showed up tonight! It has Vista Ultimate x64 installed!! That was a surprise (and a pain), as I quickly uninstalled Norton Internet Security with the intent of installing MS Live OneCare, and it turns out that you cannot install OneCare on x64 operating systems. I HATE Norton stuff (I used to love it), but it's become so bloated, it just strangles the average PC.
I will investigate alternatives tomorrow and report back then. So far, I've only scratched the surface (not literally) of this baby!

need some advice im thinking of getting the same config, except for the 512mb graphics card i heard its some issues with it.So i think im going for the 256mb.have you had any problems?
-
No problems at all. In fact, the graphics are beautiful. The Aero Glass is very cool, and the moving desktop feature of Windows Ultimate (Windows Dreamscene) is imperssive. I would get the extra video memory IMHO. Get it or regret it.
-
very sweet system!! you will love it I am sure...

I am liking it more each day. The graphics are beautiful. I had to put NIS back on, but I was able to load my "real" copy from my old laptop, which still had 240 days left on the subscription. It seems to run better on this laptop than it did on my old one. We'll see how it goes.
I'm just a little bummed about the 4.5 "experience" score. I would have thought that it would have been higher for a new PC.
Just ordered a dv9000t from Costco...
