I bought a customized one for my wife and there hasn't been any complaint so far, other than the touchpad can be finicky at times.

Great laptop, top-notch speakers and display, albeit it's unreasonably high price. The Centrino 1.6GHz DV4030 model costs $500 Canadian less, and offers pretty much the same functionality. Call me a noob, but since you're not going to be gaming in 3D a whole lot with the GMA 900 anyway, I really don't see the need of a gig of RAM for general use.

    edit:
Sorry to get out of topic. Just wanted to let you guys know I have nothing against HP. I've been continually ranting on how much of a poor choice the zv6000 is for games, and although it's true, the laptop's really not that much of a bad choice especially considering it's pricetag and high-end Athlon64 processor. Hey, as a matter of fact, I'd be buying an HP laptop (precisely the DV4030, hence the reccommendation lol) in a few weeks. Do you think I'd buy from a computer manufacturer I totally despise? Of course not. [ ;)]

For US buyers, Staples.com seems to have the most competitive price for CTO V4000's.

I paid $1600 for it at Best Buy.

Actually, I didn't pay a dime for it, because I earned gift certificates to Best Buy from work and saved up until I had enough to cover the whole thing. So, basically I had to choose from the laptops that best buy offers. I know there are better notebooks out there for $1600, but Best Buy doesn't sell them. This one seemed like the best they had to offer at that price. Maybe not?
