    Hi,
I just (like 5 minutes ago) bought a HP Pavilion dm4-2070us 14" Laptop , and of course I immediately began worrying I had made a horrible decision.
I use the computer a lot, but rarely for anything more than word, excel, surfing around, streaming video, skyping. Basic stuff really, but slow computers drive me nuts.

So here are the specs- •Intel® Core™ i5-2410M Processor (2.3GHz)
    •6GB installed memory
    •640GB hard drive
    •SuperMulti DVD Burner
    •14.0" diagonal High-Definition HP BrightView LED Display (1366 x 768)
•HP TrueVision HD Webcam with integrated digital microphone
•HP SimplePass with integrated fingerprint reader
•Wireless LAN 802.11b/g/n WLAN with WiDi
•Digital Media Card Reader for Secure Digital and Multimedia cards
•Dolby Home Theater with Altec Lansing Speakers
    •Full-Size Island-Style Keyboard
•6-Cell 55WHr Lithium-Ion Battery; Up to 6 hours and 45 minutes of battery life
    •Genuine Microsoft® Windows® 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
    •Dimensions 13.42" (L) x 8.98" (W) x .098" (min H)/ 1.27" (max H) (4.4lbs)
    •1 year warranty

It was $599 plus tax. Does it seem like a good deal? Does anything stand out to you as problematic or anything?

okay, that was what I wanted. The specs seemed good but this is the first laptop I've paid for all by myself so the purchase seems much more serious and worrisome

The i5 is definitely NOT SLOW. In fact the 2.3 ghz i5 processor will be FASTER than the common 2.0 ghz quad core i7 in daily activities like the ones you mentioned. It is when you do heavy stuff (rendering media, encoding, 3D modeling, calculations) that you will need the i7. But... you aren't doing that stuff...

Some may say that the normal hard drive limits your speed. Get an SSD is you have the money. Personally, I just keep my hard drive clean and defrag it often.
