Just got back from vacation and my Beats 14 has arrived.
This unit has the new i5 460m w/6 gigs of memory.
Right off- it looks great- finish is different, I haven't decided if I like the rubber paint on the inside.
The red keys are a little harder to see than the regular white and id prefer white, my eyes are getting older. (OK Ive noticed just while typing this the red key are a lot harder to see)
I can hear the fan more on this unit than I could on the Envy 14 that I just returned. The fan noise seem to be there in the back ground at all times.
The touch pad is much better than on the Envy I returned- not as loud and clunky and more reactive, I just hated the loud clunk touch pad.
The sound system is fantastic, much better than the regular Envy and far far better than the DM4.
The cd player seems noise when playing a cd.
The Envy Beats feel heaver and it is but not by much but I can feel the difference.
So for the price (got a good deal when the price went to it lowest for a few hours) and the 2 year warrenty this may prove to be the unit I keep.

I don't see what would make the Beats Edition any heavier than the regular Envy 14. As far as I know, they're essentially the same thing, but the Beats Edition comes with a different color scheme (paint / chrome) and a few different accessory options.
