Just received a DV7TQE but there's a few problems. RMA or return?

Got the laptop in yesterday and have already experienced a few problems. First, every once in awhile, the screen will turn purplish. Second, when I tried to do a recovery, it will get to the final leg and suddenly crap out with a P2PP Burnroot Check failed error. Now I'm wondering if I should just outright return it, and buy a new one. Or RMA it. I'm trying to minimize downtime and I don't know how long HP takes to RMA a laptop. But I do know that if I order a new one now, it won't be shipping until the end of the month which is a big bummer. Plus they are no longer offering free 8gb of ram upgrade.

i'm not sure what the difference between a return and RMA (same thing), but i would call them up and exchange for a new laptop.

Maybe you could get some type of credit for your hassle?

The wait is going to suck, but do you want to be unsatisfied with problems in the long run?

    I've already returned 2 - DV7TQEs for defects...

Actually, you should have three choices, if you bought from HP direct:

    1. Return for a complete refund
    2. Return and have a replacement built
    3. Send in for service

I have found that when receiving a new machine and these kinds of issues arise, it isn't good. Did you buy from HP direct, or a brick and mortar store?
