Since I have realized that there are not many threads on the beats edition when I did not have mine and looked for information on it, I decided to create a thread to answer any questions regarding it.

At the moment I do not have any games for it so I cant comment on that yet. I will make a thread on it when I do though.

    As for my specs:

    • Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-580M Dual Core Processor (2.66GHz, 3MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.33GHz
    • 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5650 switchable graphics [HDMI] - For Dual Core Processors
    • 4GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 500GB 7200RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection

Pics will be provided if necessary or asked. But I will be using my iPhone so the quality wont be good.

    As far as build:
My Envy Beats Edition is pretty much perfect. The build on this is fantastic and there is no flaws on it what so ever. The trackpad spacing is even and there is no rise at all. Everything is flush. There entire build came with no flaws. And I am happy to say that the backlit keyboard came completely even. Maybe I am one of the lucky few, but I am grateful. Very small keyboard flex but not noticable at all unless payed really close attention to.

    Speakers:
The external speakers are actually pretty low. Then could have been much louder. Internal speakers with a headset is pretty clear, I dont really notice a difference between other internal speakers on other laptops, but it does sound nice.

    As far as on-screen usage:
Everything moves fast and on point. I did notice that at times the computer will make quick freezing jolts with music or videos on youtube. Happened a couple of times but it stops. Hopefully an update will fix that. Trackpad is kind of sucky since it isnt that smooth and edgy. The screen display is fine. Nothing wrong with it at all and looks great. It is a bright view display.

    Battery life:
Roughly two and a half hours with wifi on, screen on average, and alot of internet usage. At the moment I havent calibrated my battery so the actual time is not exact.

Well I hope this helps people who are interested in the computer. I love this computer and it is worth it. I am a former mac user and believe me it isnt as bad as others say on here. The only problem I have is the trackpad that needs a bit more work, but nothing to not buy the computer for. Have any questions you want to ask me about it feel free!

Now I can only dream of the day when they release a Radiance display beats edition with usb 3.0 and SB.

    ahhhh.

Can you post pictures of the lid open/closed please? I want to see if the B logo stands out to much.

Thanks, and the color is pretty rich but not that dull. The camera may make it seem even brighter but its not a bad color that would turn anyone off from the look. The color red they chose was actually a good fit.

Knowing that hp still has yet to even announce the envy 14, I know I couldn't wait any longer. A single day without an envy is killing me xDDD. So I pulled the trigger and bought the Amazon Envy 14, which should arrive tomorrow. I guess no Sandy Bridge for me ]: . I will just use this Envy 14 until IVY BRIDGE comes out hahaha. I hope I won't regret this decision.

Good luck on your wait Orange Canary! I admire your patience!

I already bit the bullet and bought one Ic235, as you can see in my sig :D.

I was just hoping for a amazing refresh, because I have a cousin who works at HP in some sort of position of authority, (something to do with refunds I think) I asked if it he would be kind enough to replace my machine since it has defects with a new SB one he said, maybe...

    fingers crossed!

Thanks for the pictures 14, only makes me wish I had the beats haha.

Nice review, guy! I passed my order yesterday on ebay with ComputerUpgrade.
Considering HP will not do any change for their HP ENVY 14 serie, I cannot wait longer.
It is really beautiful! And I bought a beats studio headphone too to pair with the laptop. and hope discover a fantastic music world.
If you can do any games benchmark, that will be good. That will be hard for me to change from a Alienware M17x ATI 4870 crossfire to a Ati 5650. But well, it seems that games like street fighter 4 and left 4 dead 2 will run on this laptop with high details.

Mine will take 2 weeks to build, that is a little long. But whatever, I won't change my opinion anymore.

You will love it. I actually read your thread about the beats edition laptop before I had mine and even made an account. Your thread is part of the reason I decided to create this thread with detail. So Im happy I helped you out a bit.

How is the screen going for you? I was on a 1200 x 800 Toshiba a300 before this envy and its a huge step up, if they refresh it I might sacrifice the radiance or sell it or some such thing, im just confused at the moment. I want CES to be over so we can all see what there doing notebook wise.

Its a great computer down get me wrong, but I wish it was black ha-ha.

    congrats!

With the 1388x768 screen you'll be able to play most games in high detail I reckon.

Now I just need another 4gb stick and a 120gb SSD and im set for the next 3 years.

The screen is absolutely fine. Nice and crisp in my opinion. Though I hear once you go radiance, everything lower just isnt as good  . But I dont see any problems just having a bright view. It really is not as bad as people say. I am fine with this screen.

I will be posting up how it fairs while playing games. And believe me I plan on playing a WHOLE lot of games :D . Long time from now Im planning on maxing the RAM to 8gb. But 4gb right now is just fine.

Yea I do play alot of games and like to take my computer with me on trips, yet still maintaining low weight. 2.4kg is fine for me, and really should be fine for most people.

So far I've tested In 1600x900

Dragon Age: Origins - 4 x AA, everything else max steady 40fps
    Assassin's Creed 2 - 4 x AA, Max shadows and everything else 45 fps
Starcraft 2 Demo - High settings (gets a bit hot on the right side near the vent) 30 is the lowest, thats when I get alot crammed on screen.
Borderlands - Maxed out everything (its from 2007) runs silky smooth.

I only played the demo, so I don't know how it will fair in a 400 units on screen kind of thing, cause I have no intention of buying it.

I have the same plan as you, since ram prices have dropped down a ton recently I'm buying two 4GB sticks for dual channel. Then i'll get a 120GB SSD and buy a external one to save work/music/other crap.

Anyone know a good external monitor to use for photo/video editing thats 200 - 300$? I'd like it to be pretty big, but not excessive thanks.

There will be more to come but I'm just waiting for everything to die down.

I live in Australia so stores/online shops will differ abit. I have a local Umart thats about 5 minutes from my house, has absolutely everything you need to build a computer and upgrades. They sell

    - Cpu
    - gpu
    - Ram
    -motherboard
    -harddrive
    -SSD
    -Cases

so much stuff its amazing, they can also custom build you a desktop to your specifications plus the staff are really helpful.

At the moment a 120gb SSD from there is 200$ AUD and one 4gb is hovering around 70-100$
